Though in the recent years the relation between the two smartphone producing company Samsung and Apple were not so good, but it is almost assured that the new A7 processor which is used in iPhone 5s is produced by Samsung. Though the tech analysts assumed that the bad relation between the two companies for patent issue will also affect their internal business, but it seems that they are still doing their business and old projects in full swing. It was also spread out that the processor contract will be shifted to one Taiwan based company TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) but it was not happened like that.
As the reverse engineering of the iPhone 5S processor has already started, it is been found that the processor is produced by Samsung. A company named chipworks is doing the reverse engineering for iPhone 5s processor. Though the reverse engineering work is still going on but the company has already assured that Samsung is the producer of this A7 processor.
Chipworks also assured that A7 used the 28NM Metal Gate technology which is the design from Samsung. The news was first published in the world popular tech blog TechCrunch and the statement from Chipworks is below:
Chipworks also managed to disclosed the Apple M7 MOTION CO-PROCESSOR as well which turns out to be a chip made by NXP another chip processing company.
