If it does not work properly, in most of the time we think the food that we had taken was not good. But if the stomach is not well, the cause may be for food poisoning or may be for stomach flu.

Food Poisoning:

  1. Sudden Collapse of a Health Stomach: Yes, for food poisoning, it takes around 6-12 hours to hit the system and make some damage. So, if you went for a dinner and you are okay but in the middle of the night, you wake up with a bad stomach then it is food poisoning.
  2. The Type of the Pain is Sharp: For a food poisoning, the type of the pain will be sharp and stabbing. You will get a hard time to tolerate the pain.
  3. Diarrhea or Vomiting: In the case of food poisoning, your body tries to get rid of the poison as soon as possible in terms of vomiting or stool.
  4. Everyone Suffers at the Same Time who Ate the Food: Everyone suffer at the same time who ate the bad food. But for stomach flu it takes time to attack the other person or family member.
  5. The Sufferer Gets Well Soon: Yes, within 24 hours the sufferer becomes fine as the bad food gets released from his body. But if it is stomach flu, it lasts for even 4-5 days or even several weeks.

Stomach Flu:

  1. Symptoms of Stomach Flu: The major symptoms of Stomach flu are having low energy, stomach cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, fever etc.
  2. Type of Stomach Pain: For stomach flu the type of pain is not that sharp but it is continuous pain and lasts for long time. It takes up to 12 hours after coming contact with the virus and it lasts for more than 3 days.
  3. Main Cause: Coming contact with a virus that attacks the intestines. You can get if from someone who is already infected, or by touching something the infected person has touched. This virus can also be passed on through contaminated food or water.
  4. Prevention: Be safe while touching things in a common toilet. Wash your hands before eating and touching common things like computer keyboard or gym equipment.
  5. Treatment: Drink a lot of water or oral saline as you will become dehydrated this time. See a doctor if you have got diarrhea and frequent vomiting.
