Kiwi Travel Vlogs New Zealand Travel Video-Based YouTube Channel Building Journey

Spread the love

Dear readers, this is my story about building my YouTube channel. Things vary on a case-by-case basis however these experiences are from my journey. I was thinking about writing a blog post on my new project which is my New Zealand Travel video-related YouTube channel Kiwi Travel Vlogs. I am excited to work on this project. As a family, we travel a lot and we travel to different parts of New Zealand. So, I thought about capturing moments from our travels and sharing those as vlogs on our New Zealand Travel-related YouTube channel.

While creating content – both long videos and shorts, and uploading those to my channel I am learning different things from Video editing to YouTube SEO, YouTube SEO tools, how to rank video on YouTube, how to get organic subscribers to your vlog these different things. I have started reading and researching these things from the start of this year 2024. I am not an expert yet however as I will build and grow my channel, I will write my journey in this blog whenever I will get time.

So far, I believe these 5 things are very important for the success of any YouTube channel and I am trying to focus on these things.

YouTube SEO is different than Content SEO:

If you want to get organic views for your YouTube channel and want to grow your channel organically (which is the best method to grow your channel), there is no alternative to SEO. However, YouTube SEO is a bit different than blog content SEO. Things you need to keep in mind for YouTube SEO:

  • Title: You need an attractive title that contains the SEO keyword of the video. Just a clickbait type of title will not work best for your SEO and organic search. This is shown in some research that if you include any catching words within parentheses like (fast version), (killer tips) there kinds of wording format, the video gets better results.

Example:

  • Description: Your content SEO knowledge is helpful for the description part of the video. However, if your content is a tutorial a travel vlog, or anything else, please try to include a summary of the video in your description. The search engine will look for the metadata and will have important to show in search results. You can have a look at a video of my channel to see how I have read the description of the video to make it SEO-friendly. Example video: Marokopa Falls and Natural Bridge
  • Naming of the video file and thumbnail: please name your video file appropriately before uploading. The same applies to the thumbnail as well. When you try to edit a video, you will see the name of your video file is stored as metadata, which means when a YouTube search engine looks for any video the metadata will be considered. Initially, I did not care about these however when I learned about this, I deleted some of my previous uploads and uploaded my old videos again with the correct name of the video file with SEO keyword. I started getting results afterward.

Example: You can see in the video editor, the name is stored as metadata.

  • Update the channel About Page and the description of all the playlists: This is important to update the channel About page and the description of your playlist if you have any playlists. If someone is looking for a travel video and your about page description is something else, the search algorithm will not give your video priority. Make sure your channel about page is about what you post in your channel.
  • Stay focused: Stay focused and try to solve one problem in your channel. Uploading multiple theme videos will only harm your channel. If your channel is about technology tutorials, please do not post a dance video on your channel. I have made this mistake and I am trying to solve this problem myself. I have deleted some of my uploads that are irrelevant to my channel even if those videos earn me some views.
  • Add Chapters to Your Videos: You can turn on the option “Automatic Chapters” However I suggest please add your chapters manually as the YouTube automatic chapters option does not work very well and might ruin your video. Adding chapters is easy, just use time as “xx:xx test description”. For example- if your video has a particular important information in 3 minutes 33 seconds just write in the description: 03:33 Important Travel Information about Cape Reinga.
  • Helpful Extension to Check YouTube Video SEO: I use a helpful tool or extension that is free as well and provides some important information about my channel video SEO. The name of the extension is VidQ extension. You can have a paid version of the tool or you can have a free version. The paid version provides you with more options with SEO keywords etc.
  • Start a website based on the YouTube Theme or Channel: I have found this very helpful to get some targeted traffic for my Kiwi Travel Vlogs. The reason behind creating a blog based on your Channel theme is to get traffic and viewers who are not searching in your niche on YouTube. Sometimes, they just search for a picture or some travel guide on a location and the blogs and website links are very good at serving the purpose. However, if you embed your YouTube channel video in those posts, I can guarantee that you will be getting targeted users who will be coming to your channel from your blog and hey you can monetize your blog as well with Google Adsense or referral links.

More tips to come .. I will update as I will build my channel.
