While there is no debating the fact that Apple has been a leader when it comes to smartphones, computers and tablets over the past decade, the fact still remains that things have not gone so well since Steve Jobs passed away. While the iPhone 4s was an absolute success by every stretch of the word, the iPhone 5 has not been received with the same amount of fanfare. So, is apple starting to rot?
There are now posts on blogs and articles written in newspapers that talk about whether or not Apple is about to be defeated by some of its competitors. With the recent release of the iPad Mini, we have even more evidence of Apple losing its touch. If Apple is going to be able to keep the amount of power that it has right now, then it needs to continue to innovate and go back to its roots.

The Problems With the iPhone 5:Apple has always been known as a user friendly company that can always create products that work perfectly right out of the box. This has not been the case with the iPhone 5. The most popular problem that occurred with Apple’s latest smartphone was with Apple Maps. This service was launched alongside the iPhone 5, and it turned out to be a complete disaster. With no Google Maps application available for the iPhone 5 at launch, Google was able to point out a huge issue with Apple’s new navigation system. People were being sent to the wrong locations when they used Apple Maps, and a police department in Australia went as far as saying Apple Maps should not be used because people were getting stranded out in the wild after following the application’s directions. This was one of the many problems associated with the iPhone 5 that made the decision for many publications to rate the Samsung Galaxy S III as the best phone of the year instead of the iPhone 5.The iPad Mini is a Step in the Wrong Direction:While everyone else seems to be moving to bigger and better screens, Apple decided to move in the opposite direction. While the retina display on this device is beautiful, it seems like the more popular tablets in the future are going to be larger than roughly seven inches. Huge displays are the next frontier when it comes to tablets, and Apple has definitely missed the boat when it comes to improving the iPad brand.

What Does the Future Hold for Apple?:

As of right now, it looks like other companies have finally caught up with the innovation displayed at Apple. Google and Samsung have formed a deadly partnership when it comes to the future of Apple, and it will be hard for them to combat these two technology giants over the next few years. If Apple is going to hang on to its top spot in various markets, they need to get back to their roots and create the next product that everyone else will want to copy and distribute around the world.
