Infographics for SEO

Spread the love

For those of you who are a little unsure, infographics are pictures full of information- hence the name! They look great on any site and can be really engaging, making content fun. Sometimes unfortunately content can be dull and readers feel like they have to plough through the information. Infographics make information easy to digest and interesting with colour and pictures. So how can infographics help SEO?

Link Building :

Gone are the days of black hat SEO. Buying links is no longer acceptable due to Google’s Penguin update. So as SEO’s we all now know it’s all about content, and quality content! Until recently this was all about writing good quality, helpful and informative blogs in order to link build. But we now have the option of using infographics. So as we know content is king, we can create quality content through infographics.

Relevance :

There has been recent speculation that Google may soon start to discount any links from infographics. There is nothing to back this up and there is no need to panic! The only thing you do need to be concerned about is relevance between the link in your infographic and the site it is posted on. The only way that Google may discount a link is if the link and site are completely irrelevant. For example if you are linking to a fashion store and your infographic is on a site about gardening something doesn’t add up there, and eventually Google will spot this. It’s just about common sense! See bellow an example of a good infographic

Promoting Your Infographic :

So now you’ve made a beautiful infographic, published it on a site and linked it all up so it’s boosting your site, you’re ready to spread the word! Infographics are great for posting on social media platforms. They look great and receive lots of clicks and interest.

The second step to promoting your Infographic is to approach powerful, relevant sites with the code so they can also publish your content. Ensure your HTML link is included in the code so you are gaining more linksotherwise it’s a little pointless.

When approaching other sites to publish your infographic ensure that the link from the infographic is a highly relevant page to your site. A great idea is to post your infographic on your site, then link back to the page with your infographic on so Google deems it as highly relevant.

For those of us who know SEO, infograpics probably seem fairly straight forward. For those of us who don’t, they may seem like a great idea, but a confusing one! If you don’t want to miss out on infographics consider contacting a UK SEO company for advice on making your own or having one made for you, for SEO purposes of course.
