Video conferencing is the new way of interacting with clients all over the world. Rather than hitting the motorway for a five hour journey, you can instead simply turn on the computer and have that important meeting without having the stress of travelling for hours.

Video conferencing works for all sectors all over the world, even President Barrack Obama would much rather turn to video conferencing when speaking to military commanders in Iraq rather than using the phone.

History:

In the past, video conferencing was often extremely unreliable; this was down to shaky connections, disconnecting calls, time lags and differences, making video conferencing between businesses difficult. However in recent years, these problems have been significantly reduced, this is down to the new high internet speed that has been made available – making real time video conferencing feel just like real life.

The End of Business Travel?

Extreme media users will insist that video conferencing will one day replace face to face business meetings, reducing the needs for business travel. However, in reality, it is highly unlikely that video conferencing will be a sole replacement of face to face meetings.

By simply evaluating the difference between face to face meetings and video conferencing, you will be clearly able to see that there is an obvious need for standard business meetings.

As technology continues to advance, it is expected that there may be a visible reduction in the amount of face to face meetings happening, however it is not thought that they replace standard meetings altogether.

Face to Face Meetings:

If you have experienced video conferencing in the past, it is likely you will agree that awkward moments can sometimes be created; this is because conversation evolves much more easily when interacting with someone face to face. As it is much easier speaking in person to others, it is likely the meeting will be much more successful compared to a video conference.

Even though there is still a need for regular in-person meetings, video conferencing can make it much easier for businesses to keep in touch with clients and run new ideas by one another.
