Future proofing technology that is moving faster than any other industry is tough, very tough. What’s new today is yesterday’s news within just a few short months. There are things you can do to make sure that your gaming pc is able to cope with new developments and keep up with the latest games. Chris from Gaming computer company Palicomp gives us a few simple tips:

Buy  a PC with Components that Will Support the Next Generation of Technology:

Buying a powerful processor might sound like overkill if you are not playing this year’s latest pc games. As time progresses, graphics cards become more powerful and your processor will need to delegate more resources to the correct components, older processors will soon fall off the bandwagon, so buying a new processor now will last you longer than many other components.

Make sure you choose the right case:

Getting another graphics card, for instance running two nVidia GTX680s requires a large case not only for the spacing of these cards but also for the air and ventilation your components will require, a build up of dust and dirt will shorten the life of your gaming pc.

Know Your Motherboard:

The more expensive the motherboard, usually the more bells and whistles on it, newer motherboards have four RAM slots, more power to keep components happy, more USB and SATA ports, and even firewire or wireless connectors, as the motherboard controls every other component in your system, Making sure your board is new will prolong its life and the life of your machine.

Get A Warranty On Your Machine:

Taking out a 3 or 5 year warranty if you don’t build, is perfect for any hardware and software problems you experience.

Knowing Your Monitor Limits:

Sometimes you can max out the frame speed and other technical power for your PC monitor, so if you are running your spec at an overclocked speed and everything is running at an insane capacity, slow it down, help prolong the life of your components. Unless you plan to upgrade your monitor or go for an AMD eyefinity system working try not to overkill your graphics settings.

Buy the latest AMD Or nVidia graphics Card:

Yep, we are all on a budget. But investing the most money into your graphics card is the best thing you can do, buying the very latest card will help mean that you are getting maximum results for the next twelve months of new games!

Clean Your Computer:

Get the vacuum out and make sure that there is no dust settling on or inside your fans (make sure the power is off first) and scoop up any accumulation of dust in any of the vents. Care and attention will always help the life of your PC.

Mirroring Your Hard Drive:

Invest in RAID, this will mirror copy your hard drive onto another dormant hard drive, so if it fails you have an up to the minute backup ready to rock and roll with.

Software:

It’s still not everybody’s cup of tea but Windows 8 is here and is likely to rule the PC space for the next three years, upgrading isn’t cheap, after January if you have bought a new PC with windows 7 you will need to pay the full whack for windows 8.
