HTC One V – Great Battery Life, But Lacking in other Areas

Spread the love

HTC handsets are rapidly becoming some of the most popular phones on the market and there are many reasons for this.  The HTC One V has a number of advantages to it and even the negative points are not so bad that you will want to think twice.   It is by no means a budget option but the strong specification of the handset might make you overlook the price.

Overview :

The overall design of the phone is fairly slim and lightweight, which is always a good start.  The screen is smaller than other handsets in this price range at 3.7 inches and the user will not find the handset overloaded with ports around the edges.

Using the Phone :

One of the biggest advantages to the phone is that when it was launched it came complete with one of the best versions of Android – Ice Cream Sandwich.  Add to this Sense 4, the HTC user interface and you will find that the phone is very user friendly.  The functioning on the phone is very impressive and reviewers have been raving about the performance of this handset.   The phone’s task manager is the standard Android version and this can help to make life so much easier.

Camera :

The camera is 5 megapixels and has been blessed with a good quality lens.  The quality of the photo that you can take with this camera is not bad either.  There is not too much noise on shots taken indoors and you can play about with the additional effects that HTC has thrown in.

Internet :

There are several methods of connectivity which come as standard.  These include 3G and Wi-Fi.  In addition you can browse the internet fairly quickly even though the processor is not considered to be the best.  While the on-board storage is not great there is a microSD card so this can be expanded up to 32GB.  There is also a further 25GB of cloud space available via Dropbox – this is free of charge for two years.

A Buying Decision :

No-one should purchase this phone expecting it to be like the others in the HTC family.  There is the occasional stutter in the phone’s performance but this is nothing to worry about and will not affect most users.  The quality user interface makes the handset a great choice and it also has the added benefit of being blessed with a good battery life.  Heavy users will be able to enjoy a day and a half and if the user turns down the brightness on the handset this could be stretched even further.

While there is plenty of competition out there to catch your eye there is no reason you should not consider this particular handset when the time comes to upgrade.  For the everyday user it is ideal, although some heavy users or gaming enthusiasts might want to go for something with a little more power.  It is not a cheap phone by any standards but stands up well against some of the top of the range handsets, making this a definite contender.
