Following on from its initial release in 2010, the Apple iPad sparked a tablet computer revolution. Now, every technology manufacturer is entering the market with a new touchscreen device in order to capitalise on this lucrative consumer space.
However, Apple still reigns supreme and looks set to continue with this dominance. It’s most recent tablet release, the iPad mini, is yet another indication that the way we create, view and access information online will never be the same again.
Design:
As with all Apple products, the iPad mini is beautifully designed. At just 7.2 millimetres thick and 0.68 lbs, it can comfortably be held in the palm of your hand and be carried around with the greatest of ease. The iPad mini’s 7.9-inch screen also delivers colour-rich and detailed images, as the LED backlight technology and 1024 x 768 resolution packs a high density pixel punch.
In order to provide iPad performance in a smaller package, several design details were highly scrutinised over. For example, a redesigned unibody consolidates more parts into one, the iSight camera is smaller but still shoots full 1080p HD video and the single-cell battery is the smallest ever made by Apple.
Performance:
Despite its compact form, the iPad mini features Apple’s A5 chip, capable of powerful and efficient performance. Therefore, multitasking, photo editing and playing games are fast and fluid. What’s more, it can still last for up to 10-hours on a single charge due to the impressive battery life.
Thanks to these hardware inclusions, features like FaceTime, iCloud, Siri and iOS 7 all come as standard on the iPad mini, which is quite remarkable when you consider its condensed and portable form.
Apps:
One of the reasons why Apple products are so popular is because of the huge number of titles available in the App Store. From productivity applications to multi-player games, the possibilities are somewhat endless.
Due to this huge variety of over 375,000 iPad apps, all manner of tasks and requirements are catered for. So, whether you’re a businessman looking to create presentations on-the-go or a student that needs to take notes in class, the iPad mini is the perfect solution.
