Most people can’t just afford to buy an iPod Touch, an iPhone and an iPad. If you’re on a budget like most of the country, the chances are that you’ll only be able to add one of the three devices to your electronics collection. In that case, you’ll have to make your choice based on the specifics of your situation. All three of Apple’s devices are actually designed for slightly different audiences. Figure out which of these audiences that you’re a part of and you figure out which device you should spend your hard earned money on.

If you don’t need constant Internet access, buy an iPod Touch. One of the great things about the iPod Touch is that it has 95% of the functionality of an iPhone without the monthly cost on top of the initial purchase price. The only downside is that one of the things you lose (besides the ability to make calls) is a constant connection to the Internet. If you’re okay with finding a Wi-Fi connection every time you need to get online, get an iPod Touch.

If you’re looking for little more than a portable data assistant, buy an iPod Touch. If you just want to be able to play a few games and run a few basic applications, the iPod Touch will more than meet your needs. Buying an iPhone would probably result in you paying a lot of money per month for a device you aren’t using to its fullest potential.

If you need to make calls, buy an iPhone. Of Apple’s three devices, only the iPhone has the ability to make true telephone calls. While the iPad and the iPod Touch can both make video calls via services like Face Time and Skype, if you need to have a device that doubles as a capable cell phone you need to purchase an iPhone.

If you’re looking for a portable media device, buy an iPad. Because of its larger screen the iPad makes a great way to carry all of your favorite movies and television shows around with you on the go. The device also has an external speaker that allows you to listen to your music without headphones. If your primary concern with an Apple device is enjoying all of your multimedia content, the iPad is the answer to your calls.

If you need something to help with your business, choose between an iPhone and an iPad. Exactly which one you choose depends on your situation. The iPod Touch is absolutely not suited for running or maintaining a business. The iPhone is smaller and more portable, but the iPad has a larger screen which can be good for things like typing. If you need something that is a little more in line with a laptop computer, get an iPad. If you need something small that you can fit in your pocket on a business trip, get an iPhone.
