The Internet Lifestyle: How To Manage Working And Traveling Simultaneously?

Spread the love

When I first started getting serious about figuring out my ideal life, one of the most important things was finding a way to make money from anywhere in the world so I could indulge in my passion for travel at anytime I desired. At the time, I had no idea how to make that happen, but I held fast to my vision. As I write this, I am 22 months into a trip throughout Southeast Asia and supporting myself with a steady stream of freelance writing jobs. Whether you are freelance writer, consultant or run a business online, it takes some effort to successfully execute this type of lifestyle. After all, you will only be able to travel in this manner so long as you are bringing in money. Here are some tips that have helped me navigate the long-term working vacation.

Get Clear on Your “Why”:

There is a reason — and most likely many reasons — that you wanted to live this type of life. First and foremost, you probably have a true passion for traveling. Secondly, you probably place a pretty high value on freedom, and being able to do what you want when you want. Getting clear on why you want this type of life will help you overcome any barriers to succeeding in living it. When you find yourself getting lazy, focus on your “why” for a recharge. I am very clear on why I want to do what I do and it motivates me to do my best so I can keep the clients who pay me happy.

Have a Plan:

When you have control over planning every aspect of your day, it can be all too easy to slack off. I think anyone in this position, myself included, falls prey to laziness sometimes. When you go on a regular vacation, it is okay to take a complete break from work—after all, that is the point. But when you are traveling long-term, the “I’m on vacation” excuse won’t cut it. Failure to give your work the attention it needs can put your dream life in jeopardy.

Sure, you will want to see the sights and do the tourist stuffand that is fine; but you need to keep on track with the things that are bringing in the money. I have found setting some sort of schedule, and making daily lists of what I want to get done for the day has helped immensely. The trick is doing what works for you and not forcing a schedule that you do not like. For me, I enjoy getting up early every day and getting a good chunk of work done first thing in the morning; if I don’t finish it all, I get back to it in the afternoon after going out for the day. Find the rhythm that works best for you, and make a plan to stick to it as best you can. You can check the link https://www.limofind.com/tx/amarillo-party-bus-rental/ to rent party buses.

Use Travel Time to Your Advantage:

Take advantage of the down time you have when traveling, whether you are sitting in the airport waiting for your flight or stuck on the bus for the next several hours. You really cannot do anything else, so you might as well take advantage of the time to get some work done. I always make sure my computer is charged fully so I can start typing away. If the internet will not be available to me, I cut and paste any research into a word document so I can still get certain articles done even if I cannot get online. Then, when I reach my destination all tuckered out, I can rest easy without worrying that I still need to do my work for the day.
