Looking forward to the rest of 2013, what are some of the must have gadgets for the year? These gadgets range from new versions of already essential devices like the Nexus and the Samsung Galaxy, as well as long rumoured releases for Apple TVs and the Xbox 720 (which should hopefully be coming this year). Other gadgets that are set to be popular include flexiphones, wristband chargers for smartphones, and devices that allow you to connect your smartphone to a dock.
Nexus 10:
This update to the Nexus brand looks set to further blur the ‘phablet’ market, with a large notebook size combining with increased power. As a high speed way of running Android, the Nexus 10 is set to be one of the most popular tablets of the year.
Samsung Flexi Phones:
Expected to become available in 2013, the flexiphone, which is being developed by Samsung and others, will use new materials that allow them to be bent and reshaped before snapping back into their normal position. OLED display screens will also make these phones highly flexible for users.
Apple TV:
Not the already popular routing box for sending signals to your television, but rather a fully integrated set, the Apple TV could feature voice commands, and synchronization with all of your other Apple devices.
Xbox 720:
2013 appears to be the likely release date for the long delayed Xbox 720 – this updated device will play Blu Rays, and will have super HD graphics, as well as options for 3D game playing, and 8GB RAM on a quad core processor.
Xperia Z Yuga:
Although no release date has yet been given, the Xperia Z Yuga is likely to have a 1080p LCD screen, a quad core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor, and the potential to be one of the most powerful and good looking smartphones of the year.
TSir Wristband Charger:
For anyone who gets frustrated by their smartphone battery life, the TSir Wristband Charger will allow for an auxilliary battery to be run off your wrist – this gadget charger will mean that you can top up your phone or other device on the go.
LX2 Video Camera:
This camera is worn on a headband, allowing you to record videos while walking around, while also enabling video calls that aren’t restricted by webcams.
Big Jambox:
Designed by Jawbone, the Big Jambox is a pair of portable speakers that can be easily connected to other devices to boost their sound. A useful way of being able to enhance a portable listening experience, the Big Jambox isn’t cheap at around £200-£300, but could be essential.
Motorola Atrix 4G:
This 4G version of the Motorola Atrix is primarily distinguished by its LapDock feature, where you can convert the phone’s screen into a mini computer for better browsing and typing, as well as game playing.
Samsung Galaxy S IV:
The fourth generation of Samsung’s best selling smartphone might be hitting stores in May 2013. Rumours for the new phone include a 4.99 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, a 441 ppi pixel density, a virtually unbreakable screen, a 2 GHz quad core, and a 13 MP back camera.
